The upside of the system is that once you are in, the park still feels like the park longtime residents remember. Beverly Triton is located in Edgewater on the Chesapeake Bay, sandwiched between the South and Rhode River, and offers scenic views and a mile of natural shoreline. The park has five miles of natural trails that weave along the shoreline, into the forest, and around brackish ponds. Locals who used to complain about the tiny lot now benefit from it. The park is rarely crowded, and it is not unusual to be there and see fewer than ten other people.
A few practical notes that matter more than they sound:
- Beverly Triton is a trash-free park, which means there are no trash cans; pack it in, pack it out.
- Alcohol, fires, grills, and balloons are not permitted, and amplified music is not allowed.
- All beach equipment has to be carried from the parking lot to the beach, a walk of about 0.2 miles.

London Town, After Dark

The menu covers seafood, salads, and steaks with Orange Crushes, live music on weekends featuring singer guitarists, acoustic performers and bands, and a sand-filled pirate ship play area for kids. The programming keeps rolling into the shoulder season, with dates on the local event calendars running through mid-September. If you are picking one boat-up dinner with kids in tow, this is still the one.
The Rest Of The Bench
A few names round out a serious weekend of eating without leaving the 21037 zip. Old Stein Inn holds down the German end. One caveat worth flagging for households with strollers or wagons. The park's trails are not stroller-friendly due to marshy areas and narrow bridges, though dogs are allowed on leashes. Front carriers work. Jogging strollers do not.

What made Edgewater feel like the quiet answer to Annapolis for a long time was that none of this required planning.
